Be a Qualified Boom Lift Operator With an EWPA Yellow Card in Melbourne

The Elevated Working Platforms Association or EWPA yellow card course is a certificate of competency for workers in construction sites. It is the only nationally accredited benchmark to permit construction personnel to operate all sizes of scissor lifts, boom lifts, vertical lifts, and trailer-mounted lifts under 11 metres

Course design

Training courses in EWPA are designed so that workers gain the proper knowledge and understanding of operating EWPs like Boom Lifts, Scissor Lifts, Fork Lifts, Cherry Pickers, Mast Climbers, etc. at great heights. These elevating large-size stable platforms empower workers to reach out to the tricky places at higher elevations.

Expert trainers with several prior years of experience in the industry conduct the training courses. They give proper knowledge and training to operate these machines safely and accomplish difficult tasks at elevated heights. With appropriate theoretical learning, practical onsite experiences, the EWPA yellow card training course makes the workers learn all that is needed to make them function in the real-time situations with least margin of error.

The outcome of the training

After undergoing the training course, workers acquire a Statement of Attainment or Certificate. On successful conclusion of this course, they can gain the Yellow Card or TLILIC0005 Licence to operate a boom-type EWP (boom length 11m or more) along with a temporary Work Safe Licence; Licence to Perform High-Risk Work – WP. After that, they then need to take this provisional licence to Australia Post and pay a fee of $60 to Work Safe Victoria to attain the five-year EWPA yellow card in Melbourne.

Importance of such a course

Elevated work platforms are one of the essential equipment that enables workers to work in construction sites with the least possible trouble. These help workers to reach the problematic places at heights for extended periods safely and without any trouble. They also minimise the risk in otherwise tricky and complicated environments and do away with the need for additional equipment like climbing gears, safety gears, scaffolding, and harnesses. An EWP training thus ensures that the workers work safely and get a hands-on experience that will give them a thorough understanding necessary to operate and handle the machines at heights.
